Don’t try to be happy – be happy. Yes, I know – easier said than done. But seriously: do you really believe you can be something in the future if you don’t start being it today? You’re probably familiar with the four steps that have brought every human-made thing on this planet into existence:

  1. An idea, a thought – the origin.
  2. That thought creates a feeling within you (positive or negative).
  3. That feeling leads to action – or inaction, if it’s a negative one.
  4. And finally, the outcome – what we call reality.

So-called “realists” often tell me we must look at the facts. And yes – that’s true.

But here’s the thing: those facts were created by thoughts. Or as Neville Goddard put it:

“Nothing stands between you and the fulfillment of your dreams – except facts. And facts are created by imagination. If you change your imagination, you will change the facts.”

Let’s go even deeper – what comes before your thoughts? In my second German book “Re-Connect to Love and to Myself“, I explore this in detail. Here’s the essence: Before your thoughts, there is your being – who you are and what you believe about yourself and the world.

Neville Goddard puts it perfectly:

“The foundation on which all things are built is man’s concept of himself. He acts as he does and has the experiences he has because his self-concept is what it is – and there is no other cause. Were his concept of himself different, he would act differently. A change in self-concept automatically alters his future.”

So what if you did change your self-image? What if you started seeing yourself differently – as a creator instead of a victim, as a winner instead of a loser? Because your perception of yourself and the world has led you exactly to the life you’re living now. Change your self-image, and you’ll change your thoughts, your feelings, your actions – and tadaa – your results.

Again: don’t try to be happy – be happy. Because the most powerful way to shift your self-image is to already be the person you want to become. Be grateful now. Be happy now. Be radiant now. Be content now.

“But Norman, my wishes haven’t come true yet – how can I be happy already?”

Totally understandable. But do you really believe your dreams will come easily and joyfully if you’re grumpy and negative all the time? Of course not. You’ll have to work for them with sweat, tears, and stress. And even then – will you truly be happy?

Instead, start being the feeling you’re hoping external things will bring. Because your state of being is what sets your thoughts in motion. And believe me – the more joyful, balanced, relaxed, and healthy you feel now, the faster your dreams and goals will come to you. Like attracts like.

That’s what I personally “work” on every day. That’s why I wear my blue glasses – to see the good in everything. That’s why I carefully choose my conversations, meetings, and friendships. Because I know just how deeply my environment influences me and my emotional state. Always choose wisely who you let into your inner circle and who gets to shape your self-image… because let’s be honest: your (happy) life depends on it.

Don’t try to be happy – be happy. And surround yourself with people, ideas, and things that make you even happier. Because this reality? You hold it in your hands – every single second.

Wishing you a wonderful week of positive being.
