Influencer: “Person who is particularly well-known and influential on social networks and who has certain advertising messages or views.” (Duden)
In what area are you an influencer (role model) in? “Norman, I’m not a social media influencer with hundreds of thousands of followers…” That may be true. I still ask you my question: In what area are you an influencer?
The answer is simple. You are an influencer in everything you do. Especially for the people in your direct surrounding. It may not be hundreds of thousands, which doesn’t matter. “Jesus only had 12 followers…” a guest close to my hometown told me here on our Caribbean cruise. How right he is. With “only” 12 followers Jesus is still known after more than two thousand years. Jesus must have left a lasting impression.
Let me ask you the same question from a different perspective: When you come out of a conversation, from the subway, or from anywhere else… has your own world, as well as the world of the other people you met along the way, positively changed?
No? Then you have left your power as an influencer unused again. A smile, a word or a kind gesture can change the world of a person for the better.” Norman, due to the FFP2 mask cannot smile at others…” If you want something, you will find a way. If you don’t want something, you’ll find excuses.
Since more than three weeks I’ve been walking across the ship and through the Caribbean with a painted laughing mouth on my mask. Anke had this great idea at the beginning of the trip when I was with cruise director Andre in the Mein Schiff evening TV show.
Materials: An FFP 2 mask and a Sharpie
Time required approx. 10 – 40 seconds (depending on your artistic streak)
Effect: 100% more smiling people
Many crew members of the Mein Schiff 1 as well as locals liked the mask and gave me a thumbs up or said something nice about it.
You decide every day whether your influence takes the people around you one step further towards the positive or one step further towards the negative direction. It’s your choice.
